2Do App Reviews

Too complicated and cluttered for me

This app is as complicated and cluttered a todo app as any out there, and it keeps getting worse. The interface is literally all over the screen. At rock bottom, it’s a todo app with dates, priorities, lists and tags, but the interface makes it complicated. with information and controls left, right and center. It’s probably possible to tame it, but I haven’t found a simple way to do it, and I’m a veteran GTD user. It’s very disappointing to me that the interface is so hard to streamline.Features to interface with other apps are not quite as good as well-known apps in the same market niche. Sync is a little slow.

VERY POORLY designed

I don’t know why they keep pushing this poor color scheme

Winner in a crowded marketplace

I’m not going to tell you how much money I’ve spent buying expensive productivity apps, but you can be confident that I’ve bought and used them all. If only I had found 2Do sooner, I would never have needed to buy another. Every other app left me wanting. OmniFocus only lets you assign one tag (or ‘context’). Things lets you assign multiple tags, but only lets you filter on one at a time. So if I sit down at the computer and want to see tasks that have a “computer” tag AND an “urgent” tag, it’s just not possible. 2Do is as absolutely complicated as any tinkerer could ever want it to be, and it’s still dead simple to use. The other (huge) thing is the iPad and iPhone versions. Because 2Do was a mobile app before it came to the desktop, the interface and functionality is 100% the same — I mean ZERO feature sacrifice, and the interface is abslutely brillantly designed. In fact, if you wanted to split hairs, you might even say that the iPad has even more functionality than the desktop version since it shows your calendar events right from the app. It’s just everything you could possibly want a task app to be. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Buy this one first and be happy.

Fixed the opening lag!

The last version would take 15-20 seconds to become responsive, but this version takes care of that (at least on my Mac). Thank you!! Now the only issue I have, which I’ve written to the developers about, is that at some point in the last couple of versions opening the app defaults to the All focus list. It used to, in my case, open to the Today list which I prefer to see first. Not a huge deal, but it used to do that.

The best To-Do I’ve found

UPDATE: I continue to love this app as the (near) ultimate to-do/task program for both Mac and iOS devices. However, that “near” is severly detrimental to me and has caused me to no longer use 2Do. That’s the lack of Exchange support. Without it, over two-thirds of my daily tasks (office) cannot be created and tracked through 2Do. I have had to turn to alternate solutions (GoodTask, Reminders or OmniFocus), which all have their shortcomings in comparison to 2Do…but can interact with Exchange. This stinks! Please support Exchange in a future update, 2Do!!! I echo the same sentiments as sdcga161’s review. This is about as close to perfect as I can find in a task list application, both for the Mac as well as my iOS devices. As stated, Clear tries to be too simple that it suffers value; OmniFocus tries to be too complex that it suffers efficiency. And of course, NO ONE wants to use Apple’s solution, Reminders! I’ve tried those plus Things, Hit List, Task Coach, Wunderlist, ToDo, even Outlook & Google Calendar. None come close to the balance of ease with customization that 2Do has. Plus the sync feature with your smart devices is fast, stable, and accurate. My only gripe is the alarm notifications…much too simple. The notifications need at least a Snooze/Completed option, but better yet, a multiple snooze option (e.g. - 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, etc.). But the value of the XOS/iOS integration, the customization of lists, the various options of tags, alarms, attachments & macro actions, all make this the most robust solution you can find today for Mac and/or iOS users. Keep up the great development work, Guided Ways!

Satisfied 2do veteran

I don’t usually write reviews for apps, but my experience with 2do has been so amazing for so long that I feel almost morally obligated to write this one. I began using 2do about 3 years ago and there have been constant improvements the entire time. This app has 99.99% of features that anyone could possibly imagine a todo app having, and the features it doesn’t have are generally purposeful omissions to avoid over-complication. For a while now 2do has been nearly perfect, and yet the developer continues to push out regular updates with new features and meaningful tweaks *for free*. This app and the developer are incredible, more than worth the asking price!

Continues to amaze

This app gets more useful, intuitive and brilliant with each update, long after it had accomplished everything a project management app should reasonably expect to. This is one of the few “living” apps you’ll find in the app store — the developers clearly love this program and keep building it up across all supported platforms. No “bug fixes and minor improvements” updates. When an update comes along for 2Do, you know it’s going to introduce exciting new features, which you often didn’t realize you needed until they came along and then you couldn’t live without. Can’t say enough about this app or the developers behind it. Bravo.

Full-featured, works well for lawyers

I’m an attorney and use this app to manage action items in my cases. I’ve found its flexibility to be a good fit for the individual needs of legal cases. The more cases I get, the more instrumental tags and search become in helping me stay on top of the action items for each one. I started out using the iOS app that I got for free, and found it so useful that the bait worked and I bought the full Mac app. Since I’ve gone all in on 2Do, it has become a pretty inextricable part of my workflow. I do think it could be a little more discoverable, and sometimes there are just a couple-too-many taps to do things in the iOS app, but the desktop app is nearly perfect. The sync is critical, and the various widgets and watch app are nice touches as well. 5 stars, well-deserved.

There is Nothing Better for Managing Tasks - Still! - v2.2.2

The new verwion is great and looks great too! I’ve been using a task management system since the early ’80’s. I had them all from paper to PDA to iPhone and now my MacBook. In fact this application was the tipping point for me to switch from PC to Mac. That’s how good it is. Sorting, Searching, Catagorizing, you name it, 2Do does it all with a great interface that keeps getting better.

STILL The Best GTD App

After using this app for over 2+ years now, I must say, this is STILL my main task management app for individual task lists, projects and checklists. There are many apps out there that have attempted to get this app off of its throne (in terms of this being my number one task management app), but none of them have succeeded…. One of the best things that keeps me using it is the makers’ “innovation” of task input. It is ridiculously easy to input tasks on the Mac version using keyboard shortcuts, and even easier on the iPhone/iPad version (via a “lightning” button). And, this app has helped me get through some very complex projects, especially ones where the timelines have to be met to the minute. Notifications about tasks being due are very good, and you can set them for just about any time you desire. And, the searching feature of previous tasks in this app is second to none. I can search for just about any previous task very quickly and easily. Lastly, the Calendar integration on the iOS version is very, very good, and allows me to take full advantage of the native Calendar’s travel time features. I highly recommend this app for those who need to perform tasks, checklists and projects for their needs, as this app is designed for individual tasks.

Nice Interface, Poor Sync

Keeping 2Do synced across two computers, an iPhone and an iPad is just not very good. Compared to many apps, the sync is slow, not terribly robust, and often fails, leaving my ToDo list with an old version as the "Head", which clobbers the rest of my list elsewhere. Considering that Sync is sort of crucial to the whole affair, it leaves me soured on the app itself. Really wish I hadnt spent the money.

Awesome app

I first started using 2do for iPad. Before that I tried many programs including OmniFocus, Todledo etc. Neither of them actually fit my needs. So I tried 2Do for Mac when it was released and found it half baked at that time. So I did not buy it and keep using iPad version. Recently though I came accross the version 2, tried it and got amazed. This is simply the best task management software I ever used. Simple, clean interface, well organized structure, simple sync accross the platforms… What else do I need? So from now on it is always open on my MacBookProR. I use iCloud sync since sometimes it is simpler to use native Reminders on iPhone. No problems et al. Highly recommended. Support team is quick and friendly. Looking forward for updated iPad version. Later: updated iOS version is great, now looking forward for updated OS X version for Yosemite. Version 2.0 first impression. The look is great, works nice. The only request - please return the old icon, it is really better. 2016-10 still using it and still love it. It is a great app on tracking dayly tasks with good planning ability. I am using it in combination with Apple Reminders. Reminders has some good features like simplicity, Siri, and location, but lacks of projects and checklist. One problem - I have to add some tasks to both. 2do allows to sync using iCloud, but it makes Reminders really messy. I am using Dropbox to sync betwee MacOS and iOS.

Big learning curve BIGGER REWARDS

This tool is powerful, flexible and great on my Mac, iPad and iPhone. It took me a while to get used to it and to be honest at first I didn’t like it but that has changed. It took some time for me to come around but it is awesome. Simple when you need it, very detailed when you don’t. Keeps my focus on what it needs to be on when it needs to be on it.

Best Task Managment System!

I have tried several task management apps over the years. Some didn’t do as much as I needed, and others did too much. 2Do is just right! I really enjoyed some of the other applications, but they were all missing one key feature – the ability to prioritize tasks. Many other apps seam to be built from the GTD model. It’s a fine model, but it doesn’t work for everyone. Because I am a full-stack interactive designer & developer who manages a lot of different items, there’s always too many things on my list, and I need some way to prioritize each element. Since I am an artist who believes in constructive criticism, my few complaints are these: I wish it had native Siri integration, I wish there was native support for Apple’s Automator, and I really wish I could attach files to each to-do item. Please, oh please, add these features! :-) Great App! :-)

Not so “omni" like omni focus, but do better on nearly everything else

Not so “omni" like omni focus, but do better on nearly everything else

Excellent app

For some reason, I keep trying to find something better, but I never do! Latest version gives me all I need - folders, tags. I can make my tasks list as simple or as complex as I need them.

So great!

2Do looks great first of all and it is incredily useful. I cannot recommend this enough for keeping your life organized.

My Go-to Productivity App

Like many others, I have tried and tested a range of productivity apps (and have spent a lot of money doing so). I have come back to 2Do and have been using it daily for about 6 months. It is by far the most useful GTD app - exteremly powerful and flexible. Just the time it saves me wondering what I should actually be doing right now is worth the cost of the app. I use it both at work and at home. There’s a bit of a learning curve to use features to their fullest, but with every powerful app there is. Get 2Do. You won’t be disappointed. I’m a huge fan of 2Do notes and actions - why keep that information in another app (like OneNote) if I just need to delete it once the task is done? There is only one component I feel like is missing - effective task sharing with your family / a spouse. We deal with this limitation because I like 2Do so much, but it’s #1 on my wishlist for this app.

Fantastic balance of power and simplicity!

Use as a simple checklist or a powerful project/task manager. Sync with all your devices. Great support, regular updates. Worth every penny.
