Full featured app, a web version would only make it better

First of all, this is an app that’s staying with me for more time than what I thought, and that means it’s meeting all my needs to get things done…no doubt. It’s a full featured app, very rich in functionality and very pleasing to look at which is important when you have to look at these apps multiple times a day naturally. Check, check, check on every checkbox that’s open, but with the only open checkbox that’s still can’t be checked is the Web version of this app. I really wish the creators of this beautiful and very functional app think about and bring out a web version soon. The apps are only available for the Apple ecosystem, and in this day and age, cross-platform is a must no matter how much you deny it. People may be with the Apple ecosystem at home and at work they may have to deal with Microsoft’s ecosystem and that’s the reality for most of us. Instead of making this “app” available across all platforms I’d just suggest them to come out with an equally functional web app that can be accessed from anywhere regardless of the platform. This is one missing piece that’s still keeping my eye open for a ground-breaking alternate app, otherwise I won’t even have to look for an alternate. It’s so good, except the web version. I hope the creators realize that they have a great winning product in their hands, they just have to extend the experience, and can even charge a smaller amount for it if that’s what is holding them up. Otherwise, it’s a 5-star app.

The Best Task Manager for Mac

2Do has a litany of features that will please any power user, but can also be used minimally and casually – it flexes to whatever needs you might ask of a task manager app. Nagging reminders (to actually help you do stuff,) start and due dates/times, complex repeat options for tasks and projects, file attachments, quick entry, email-to-task, and everything in between. To top it all off, the developer is stellar, and always responds to feedback, feature requests, and bug reports. He’s very active, and continually develops the app to be the best it can be.

The best if you’re flying solo AND have Apple products

If you’re practicing GTD and are all-Apple, this app is the absolute must-have. It stands alone. 2Do includes every single feature I was looking for (location-based reminders, repeating tasks, contextual tags, syncing across devices, clickable phone numbers, etc.), including a lot of the features which cater specifically to GTD. I bounced around from app to app for almost two years until I finally stumbled onto 2Do via an App Store review for another app and was absolutely blown away. The feature-rich settings make the app fit into your workflow, not the other way around. You can make it as simple or as complex as you would like. The location and contextual tagging feature really helps filter your To Do List down to only the tasks I can complete right now, removing a lot of the barriers to actually getting them completed. It took a little bit of tinkering and testing to figure out how some of the features worked, especially for time-specific recurring events with alarms (my job has a lot of those tasks). Once I figured it all out, though, my work life seemed to go on autopilot. Now I’m building that same infrastructure for my personal tasks, gift ideas, grocery lists, errands, etc. 2Do IS NOT a collaboration tool for teams which allows users to assign tasks, create group projects, etc. If that’s what you’re looking for, I would look elsewhere. 2Do is, however, a fantastic tool for individuals to manage their whole lives. I haven’t yet figured out the best way to use Smart Lists, but I see enormous potential and will definitely be exploring that feature soon. It’s worth noting that the Mac Desktop version is a separate purchase from the iOS apps (I emailed the developer for confirmation on this question). The free trial you can get from the developer’s website is a great way to try out the full functionality risk-free. I was only two days into my free trial when I went all in and bought the full versions of both apps. They were that good. Sign up for the trial, test out the full functionality, and see what features work for you. I highly recommend this app.

A flexible, robust task manager…for a price

2Do is clean, elegant, and incredibly agile. I can use it for keeping track of my work, writing daily to-dos, and setting reminders. Its “Smart List” feature is absolutely indispensable, and provides an incredibly robust way to sort through tasks—the greater search functionality of which Smart Lists are a part is one of the things that really sets 2Do apart from apps at a similar price point. While it might not have some of the more advanced features of more expensive task managers, at a cross-platform price of under that of some competitors, its value is hard to beat. Yes, it comes at a steep price, but if you’re in the market for a multi-purpose task manager, 2Do is definitely worth considering.

My favorite of all the task apps

I’m very picky, as I think many people are, about how I manage my time and my tasks. I don’t subscribe to any of the published systems, but if you do, 2Do supports them. Instead, I have my own way of thinking about task lists which is very personal or particular to me. And 2Do supports that also. I like the built in flexibility most of all, but aside from that it’s also been a very reliable tool, has good syncing between Mac and iOS devices, and has good support from the developer. I’ve tried so many other apps and services, and (for me) this is the best. Highly recommended.

Great app, but needs a full sync solution other than Dropbox

The app itself is fantastic, and the Dropbox sync does work flawlessly. Only problem is, Dropbox is the only option for a hassle-free, full-feature sync. Other sync solutions are incompatible with everything 2Do has to offer. Ideally they would open up their Dropbox syncing to other cloud providers. iCloud storage is an obvious choice since its already on every Mac. Google Drive or OneDrive would also be ok. Or even just specifying an empty folder to drop sync data in. I dont like being stuck with Dropbox.

Completely unreliable, DO NOT BUY THIS APP

I had the same experience as Gabe Roth below. I had been working in 2Do all day trying to get it set up. I accidentally deleted a task (my fault). When I hit Undo everything changed (2Do’s fault). The list I was looking at changed; it snapped me back to the main view, and a lot of items were missing and had reverted from changes I had made. It was as though I had reloaded a save state from as much as an hour ago. Lists I had made were gone. Projects lost the changes I’d made to them. I wasted hours! And $50! I don’t know if it is a sync issue, or a bug or what. And I don’t care! My data was lost by 2Do and, as a result, I now have a $50 app that I can’t trust and I lost nearly a day of work because I have to find another app that I CAN trust. I should have taken a fifty dollar bill and set it on fire. That would have pleased me more than the fact that I purchased this unreliable, overpriced app.

Finally…keyboard shortcuts and Groups...

Two absolutely clutch updates. 2do now rules the heap…Phone/Mac —> Bliss. Thank you 2do team!

Best todo app

I have tested many other todo apps before including Things and Omnifocus but this app is hands down the best one. There are still a few bugs and the Mac app doesnt have as many feature as the iOS app but it is still my favorite todo app.

Great compromise between OmniFocus and Todoist

Used OF for a couple years and loved its keyboard/attachment support, but liked the color-coding and tagging of Todoist — and found the perfect middle ground in 2Do. Highly recommend.

Still THE Best GTD App

Update (11/12) I downloaded the latest version, and it STILL is the best GTD app out there! The desktop version simply is awesome, and new features they have just added (such as clicking on the “Category” now shows a List of all the tasks associated with that category, even more keyboard shortcuts for things, color-coding your lists, and more) is making it better and better. Also, their creation of a Walkthrough Tutorial helps those who aren’t familiar with the software to get up and running quickly. As a note: I’m managing over 100 tasks in this app, and they are separated into 5 different categories, with each category housing at least 3 Lists, and I’m able to see a “clear picture” (personally and professionally) of EVERYTHING I need to do…. To me, this is the best app for getting things done! Previous Review…. After using this app for over a year now, I’m still very satisfied with it! It is very easy for a novice to use, yet it can scale up to full-size projects if necessary! The key to using this software is to first have a “picture” in your mind of how you would like to organize your life. For instance, I get pulled in a myriad of directions, from Ministry to Business and Personal. The good news is that I can create those aforementioned items as “Categories,” which then allow me to break those down into Lists. Within the Lists, I can easily write down my tasks. And, with the “Inbox” built into the app, there are times where I can’t determine what List a task belongs, so I can easily and quickly get it off my mind, into the Inbox, and then think it through later. But, the best feature I have begun to use more than before is their “Start Date.” It’s SO helpful to use this on tasks that I have sitting in Lists, as I can place a “Start Date” (along with a time!) with them, and when you have your lists set to “Start Date,” those tasks automatically show up in your “Today” List. ONE CAVEAT: The only thing that is missing, and I honestly don’t know whether they will do it or not, is the ability to share checklists and projects with people. You can do that via email, but if they are able to allow people to share tasks, projects, and checklists BETWEEN the same app, with different 2Do users, that would be ABSOLUTELY AWESOME…. Other than that, this is a very, very good app for individuals, and complex projects for individuals.

2Do or not 2Do...

I have tied so many of these GTD or GTDish apps going back to Midnight Inbox sevreal years ago. I was ineffective at using them UNTIL I actually read David Allen’s book - Getting Things Done. Once reading about the actual system that most of these apps at least resemble, I was able to use them all much more effectively. That being said, I have come to believe that prefer the approach of 2Do over all the others including the 800 pound gorilla in the GTD room - OmniFocus. But here’s the thing - they all work pretty well. They have minor differences in approach and visuals. Some sync, some don’t, some are pretty, some aren’t. But I believe any of them will work for you if you dedicate the time to the system and adapt to YOUR workflow. I used Things forever. It’s great. I used OmniFocus for many many months. It’s great. So why did I settle on 2Do? I prefer the look of it. I prefer the incredible flexibility of it. You can go strict GTD or something much less. It syncs well across Apple devices. I like being able to use multiple tags or contexts or lists or whatever verbiage you prefer. Which is the point. It can do practically anything in any system, which can be overwhelming. I’d start with a list - and then mulple contextual lists - and then bring in projects, etc. Start small and work your way into the program slowly and methodically and you’ll see how amazing it can be. But if it doesn’t work for you, then that’s okay too. There isn’t one app to rule them all for everyone.

Smooth and perfect app for planning

This is a great app for planning your stuff. The app functions very well and never crashed.

very good app

This is a detailed app, way more than a todo list. I use it to remind me about daily tasks, and I’ve also put long-term project goals in too. The sync with iOS devices is flawless, great to type stuff on the Mac and then check in with iphone later.

I like this awesome app

I like this awesome app.

2Do is THE task management app

2Do is by far the best task management app I’ve used, and I’ve literally tried them all.It does everythiing I need of it, where the others didnt.

Best I’ve Tried

Over the past 5 years since I’ve owned a Smartphone I have tried out numerous app and I always return to Apple’s proprietary system. ..until now. I really love this app’s ability to quickly dump a bunch of ideas into an inbox and later sort out their priority and category. I like having it on my desktop and other devices. I think it is over priced a bit and I hope they can bring it down. I waited for a sale, so I that helped. All said, it is a system I really like!!

Very complete and love the sync features

2Do is a really comprehensive task manager for what I need. I am involved with various companies and projects and the list feature lets me organize my activities the way I need to. I love how it syncs from desktop to phone to tablet without any issues. Great product!

Exceptionally functional, with seamless syncing

*All the power one could want, without getting in your way -like Omnifocus. The most remarkable thing is the seamless syncing between two iOS devices and a Mac OS X computer - without having to open the application. Superb job! *Some users, including myself, would like a few more features, but those are mostly bucket-list wishes. This app stands on its own.

Thank you for continuing to support your app!

For thoses who are willing to make it yours, this is the app. Simple or complex, whatever your needs are, 2Do can interface for it. New updates and no price - again, much appreciated for continuing the support of this app.
