2Do App Reviews

Simply.. Powerful

I bought the iphone version of the app several years ago. Recently, I bought the mac version too. Without any doubts, it is the best app in both my iphone and my Mac. I know it requires time to understand all aspects of the app (the User manual is 80 pages !) but once done…. it is amazing to use. Although, there are some youtube videos that explain different features of the app, I suggest adding a quick guide inside the app. I think showing some desctiptions on how to use it using some arrows, shading on the first time of using the app will be helpful for new users. What I like the most about the app: 1) the shortcut I use to enter a task even if the app is closed on any screen of my mac. 2) ability of making groups of tasks 3) smart lists 4) Focus feature What I look forward to see in future updates: bigger calendar and the ability to see my calendars inside the app

Finally!

Like others have said, I’ve tried many programs over the years but none of them have made me stick with them. 2Do just makes sense for me and I’m surprising even myself by how much I’m using it to keep my work organized and even my home & errands. I use the shortcut to add stuff to it all the time. If I had one thing I’d like to request, it would be be able to export both uncompleted & completed items from a particular list by week or month, so that I can keep a record (for my clients) of the tasks that have been done for them & show which items are ongoing or even scheduled out in the future. That would totally complete this great app.

One of, if not the best, apps for tasks

I think I might have tried all of the different task management apps on my phone and on my desktop. 2DO is still on top for me. I went away from it for awhile, but came back to it. They have improved the sync function and speed. It is highly useable. We moved into some new work modes in my business and as a result I ran around the block again with many other apps….still…I’ve come back to this one. I wish I could email to the app…and that I could use Siri to enter tasks….give me those 2 things and it would be 6 stars!

Love it!

After the painful task of getting my tasks OUT of Wunderlist (could they make it any harder?), I have never looked back. I am using 2Do iOS, watch and Mac apps and syncing with Reminders. Even though 2Do is my primary app, I do like the fact that it is fully in sync with native Reminders as it allows interacting/syncing with others that you share a Reminders list with. I also like that it extends upon native reminders in that I can save images and have actions assigned to my tasks. Similar to another reviewer, I had tried most of the other To-Do apps out there, and run into similar issues stated. 2Do has been a great solution and the smart lists let me customize and segregate my personal to-do’s and work to-do’s. No complaints, very reliable, dependable and syncs without issue. The team updates regularly and keeps on top of new OS functions/features, and has extensive info on their site as well. Adding Emojis to the beginning of tasks, lists, etc (i.e. "

*Still* Best of the Bunch (and I’ve tested many)

**Thoughts on 2do on the Apple Watch added at the bottom!** Over the years, I’ve tried too many productivity apps like 2do: • The Hit List – MIA for years, still first version with really only bug fixes since 2012 • Things – no subtasks, no location-based tasks, odd information hierarchy presentation • OmniFocus – OVER PRICE, overly complicated, iPhone app takes too many taps to get to a list of items that are both due and overdue • Wunderlist – list folders don’t actually show task and notes are not visible in task • Todo Cloud – inconsistent experience between devices, opens separate window for notes • and other that have since disappeared from existence All of them left me feeling like I was settling for an “OK” version of what I wanted—a solid task management application that I could use (primarily) on my desktop, with a solid iPhone counterpart to allow me to act on items. Even those that had both didn’t integrate with each other seamlessly, and that was incredibly frustrating. Any time I settled on one, I always felt like I still wanted to try others, constantly looking for a better experience. Don’t get me wrong, for a while there, 2do was powerful but not consistent between devices either. However, with 2do 3.0 for iOS and 2do 1.5 for OS X, it changed everything. And with the 2.0 upgrade to OS X, it’s was virtually perfect, and only getting better since: • a “Today” list with due and overdue tasks • solid subtask support • lists and list groups that show you its full contents by clicking on it • notes visible in the list view • a calendar onto which you drag/drop tasks to create due dates • a consistent experience between ALL of their apps • solid and speedy sync though Dropbox • and much more After a number of years I finally don’t feel like I need to search for a better product. And I am strangely relieved by that. :) UPDATE (2015-12): I just got the Apple Watch for Christmas and was eager to see how certain apps would translate to the smaller screen—2do being one of them. While the smaller display can feel limiting at first, I had to remind myself that the watch is not a replacement device for my iPhone and its apps, but a companion device. And with that in mind, the 2do app on the Apple Watch is pretty great. I can quickly peek at “Today’s” tasks, scheduled tasks, starred tasks and a custom list you can add through the iOS app—I chose the “Inbox” list to see newly added tasks. The only real thing keeping me from completely enjoying 2do on the Apple Watch was not being able to add tasks/reminders using Siri. Thankfully, this was merely a known limitation when syncing through Dropbox and was easily remedied by syncing through CalDAV instead, using your iCloud username and password. Now, I can lift my wrist, ask Siri to remind me of a specific task at a specific time, and it automatically gets added to 2do. LOVE IT!

My favourite!

I used many, many todo apps. Spent lot’s of money trying to find the best one for me. So far, this is it.

Almost Perfect

Seamless syncing, fluid interface, logical organization, and a development team with a strong attention to detail. The only thing that would make this more complete woud be a full-screen expanded calendar view, where one can view the tasks for that day as full names. The current calendar allows for rapid searching, but not a very helpful, quick-look overview. However, having tried most of the To-Do apps in the app store (Things, Wunderlist, iProcrastinate, Clear, and Todoist), this program takes the crown as being as versitile, complex, or simple as the user wants. Simplicity with functionality.

The BEST

I have used many productivity list apps, but 2Do is by far the best. My workflow is much more streamlined, and better still…IT’S ON SALE!!!!

Tried every To Do app under the sun….

I started out with Reminders… then found what i needed with Things. Things was good for a while, but slowly became old, and not flexible enough for my ever more complex needs. I did some research and tried a bunch of apps… notably Wunderlist, ToDoist, and Asana… okay but not my cup of tea. Then i met OmniFocus… i though..”wow this is powerful”… but i had to overlook the things that didn’t work the way i needed…. STILL, i thought i found my match. I happily plunked down for the premium pro features… and spent the rest of the next month tryin to figure out how to make things work for me. I thought i found the answer… but what i didn’t realize was that i spent more time tweaking trying to find the settings that i needed. It never worked quite the way i needed them too… but they did the job. i kept telling myself that.. “well in the next version they’ll totally have those features… it’ll all be okay”… but then i’d read the forums… and people have been asking for those same things for years… and the ceo said they were working on them.. but they weren’t easy, and they’d take time (ie…. not this year, or maybe next). That’s when i started to hear about 2Do. To be honest, i HAD heard about it quite some time ago.. but i’d dismissed it by it’s dumb name and mediocre icon. I had totally dismissed it.. but i looked into it, and it seemed to have all the things that i liked about Things (tags!, drag n drop) and the power and modern features that OmniFocus has… but on top of that it has the things that i’d been wishing for.. reminders! mutiple tags, the most amazing integration with iOS Reminders that i’ve ever seen… frankly it’s (ALMOST) everything i’ve wanted in a ToDo app. That said… i wish that it had a Review feature… that’s one thing that OmniFocus has that truly took my GTD game to the next level… … and i wish it had ‘sequential projects’ and ‘templates’ ala OmniFocus…. but frankly.. for all the things that it DOES, i can overlook those and hope for those in a future release.

Easily replaced omnifocus, wow

Decided to give it a go since I was using the iOS version. I’ve been playing with the iOS version for quite some time now and it completely replaced my omnifocus I decided to buy the osx version as well and wow I do not regret it. one of my best buy so far. great product

Moved from Things to 2Do

Great app that is as complex or simple as you need it to be. Moved from Things and haven’t looked back.

The best Task Manager app. Ever.

I’ve been using 2Do on the iPhone since v1.0, and it is by far my most favourite app. 2Do provides the most value for the price, Ive wasted so much money on OmniFocus, Things etc. Love what you guys are doing! Keep it up! :)

Exactly what I wanted

Although the cost made me hesitate a little, having 2Do on all my devices (iMac, MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad) is proving really useful. It’s great to be able to quickly record a task on my phone, then categorize it and assign it to a project when I’m at my desk. I’ve found the organizational structure of the application pretty intuitive, and while I’m sure there are features I’m not using, iin just a few days it’s already paid for itself by enhancing my efficiency. Highly recommended, especially for anyone who applies David Allen’s “Getting Things Done” methods.

Amazing

I have been using 2Do for a very long time. It’s straightforward and easy to use. One of the tricky part is undoing the check-off because I have to the completed item manually. Otherwise I love the apps versatility

Must-have app

One of my top-10 must-have apps - elegant, fast, cross-device. Hard to imagine how it could be improved. Worth every cent.

Perfect mix

I’ve used all the best tools for the Mac in this category. Where as Things is a tad limited, and OmniFocus is a little too lacking aesthetically, 2Do finds the perfect combination of usability and delight. I can’t recommend it enough.

The best task management system I’ve found

I tend to jump around between programs trying to find the one that’s perfect for me. Although there are small things I’d like to see changed, 2Do is an exceptionally well thought out program that is constantly being developed and improved. The search really is second-to-none. Making smart lists is much easier and more functional than dealing with Omnifocus’ convoluted and confusing custom perspectives. That said, Omnifocus’ contexts is something I miss (although tags come close to replacing them). Speaking of, paused tags are an incredibly nice feature that allow you to put something on hold indefinitely (and they’re very easy to quickly view or even unpause when needed). Things I’d like to see improved: - Tasks that are dependent on the completion of a previous task. For example, if I need to interview someone and then edit the video, there’s no point in seeing “Edit the video” until I’ve done the interview. This is easily the thing I miss most from Omnifocus. - Setting a radius on locations (so Home might be a small radius whereas my hometown would be extended to include—well, the whole town). - Ability to set recurring start dates and due dates on the last day of a month and the last weekday of a month. - Paused projects and lists (currently, one can only pause tags). Notwithstanding these desired improvements, I still happily use 2Do multiple times each day, every day. Omnifocus is its nearest competitor and is also very good, although it can be overly demanding sometimes (and 2Do’s interfaces on the Mac OS X/MacOS and iOS are both much better). Every other product I’ve tried doesn’t come close to comparing.

Great app

I have tried pretty much all task apps under the sun. Over the years I’ve stuck with OmniFocus which I still think is an excellent app. 2Do on the other hand allowed me to slice and dice my data the way I wanted. Between tags and smart lists I can bring up what I want when I want which is quite useful with a large task lists across multiple areas. The developer is also thoughtful and has a good character. It shows in the app design and thought process. I look forward to future updates which continue to be free since day one. You don’t see that very often these days.

The best.

I can’t say enough about how amazing 2Do is. It has every feature I ever wanted to keep my complicated task lists organized, and some that I didn’t realize I wanted until 2Do made them possible. So easy to use and works like a charm. The developer is always working to make it better, and deserves a huge round of applause.

Wow, how did I miss this one?

Similar to other folks I have spent seemingly a lifetime looking for best in class task/action management apps. I’m not entirely sure how I missed this one… Save yourself the time and effort, if you follw GTD look no further. The Desktop and IOS versions are both superb. Here’s hoping they don’t break it ;)
