The best task management system I’ve found
I tend to jump around between programs trying to find the one that’s perfect for me. Although there are small things I’d like to see changed, 2Do is an exceptionally well thought out program that is constantly being developed and improved. The search really is second-to-none. Making smart lists is much easier and more functional than dealing with Omnifocus’ convoluted and confusing custom perspectives. That said, Omnifocus’ contexts is something I miss (although tags come close to replacing them). Speaking of, paused tags are an incredibly nice feature that allow you to put something on hold indefinitely (and they’re very easy to quickly view or even unpause when needed).
Things I’d like to see improved:
- Tasks that are dependent on the completion of a previous task. For example, if I need to interview someone and then edit the video, there’s no point in seeing “Edit the video” until I’ve done the interview. This is easily the thing I miss most from Omnifocus.
- Setting a radius on locations (so Home might be a small radius whereas my hometown would be extended to include—well, the whole town).
- Ability to set recurring start dates and due dates on the last day of a month and the last weekday of a month.
- Paused projects and lists (currently, one can only pause tags).
Notwithstanding these desired improvements, I still happily use 2Do multiple times each day, every day. Omnifocus is its nearest competitor and is also very good, although it can be overly demanding sometimes (and 2Do’s interfaces on the Mac OS X/MacOS and iOS are both much better). Every other product I’ve tried doesn’t come close to comparing.
