Fantastic app.
Fantastic app.
I love the implementation of projects and lists! This application is extremely robust and having a place to store lists. I also love the fact that iPhone/iPad/mac apps all have feature parody
I have tried them all, etc etc. Really, I have bought just about every productivity app there ever was and have always found enough missing in each one that I felt I had to move on to another one. 2Do is not perfect, but it’s overall the most well thought out set of apps (along with the iOS version) that I have used. It takes a bit of experimenting to get things set up but there is good documentation with each of the apps and now I have found that 2do works well for me. The layout of the app and the ease of use make it pretty enjoyable to use compared to others and I really do accomplish most of what i set out to do using the apps. I recommend both apps highly and I don’t think anyone would be disappointed.
Lacks the simple elegance of Things or Omni Focus. Very clumsy interface. Limited capabilities.
I love this app. I have gone back and forth between this one and the other GTD “focused” app a half dozen times over the past 5 years and I am happy to call 2D0 home. The 3.8 iOS update is a must - check it out.
Reciently I had three different projects going on a work at the same time, and was feeling overwhelmed. I did a fair amount of research and ended up with 2do. It has been a lifesaver. Simple to start out using just as a simple task manager, but the more you use it, the more helpfull it becomes. I would highly recommend.
Updated Review: There are so many apps in the iOS world that keep pestering you for writing reviews. But somehow 2Do is the app where I always want to write a review. I am always nervous that they will go out of business and pull out the app. Here is my unsolicited advice to the 2Do team. If possible, charge an yearly fee. I will pay it willingly. In fact I will be ecstatic to pay you every year for helping me keep my life organized. You are the best !!! Updated Review: Continue to love this app. Been using it consistently every single day for the last couple of years and it continues to amaze me how reliable, efficient and easy to use is this app. And it has so many features though never ever do those features get in the way. I would pay them again to make sure they continue to thrive and innovate. Awesome job guys !!!! I have toyed with several to do apps over the years. I had installed 2Do like 2 to 3 years back on my iPhone and for some reason did not like it at all. Even felt robbed of the dollars that I had to pay for the app. Then I started using iProcrastinate and loved it. Wrote a glowing review for it. In the meantime I am was getting good at using the to-do app. Half of the challenge with usefulness of the app is the individual has to use it consistently. At first certain things are not so great but then you start liking them and make it part of your daily to-do workflow. And that was the journey I was on with iProcrastinate. But then I started noticing the issues with sync. Also some of the usability items on the desktop version of the app were not intutive. And to top that every task had to have a due date. So, i started shopping for a better app and read a review on one of the blogs about 2Do. The blogger mentioned (similar to my experience) that the app was not that great 2-3 yrs back but it is now an awesome app. I was like, what the heck. I have a iPhone app already. Let me try the desktop version. Downloaded the trial, then purchased it in 10 days and have been using it for over 2 months and I LOVE IT…. If you want a simple app, this is not for you. But I believe everyone transcends from the phase of simplicity to make the app work for you. And this is what 2Do does. I have been using it religiously. I do not use a lot of features but the ones I use, I love them. And the sync is flawless. You can clearly see that the app is being built by team which is committed and in this for the long run. Not a hack put together. Keep it up.
I have used and purchased so many task apps over the years that I have lost count. Two things sold me on this one: the ability to have list groups and font size control. I have perfect vision, but just like having a large font in task managers. It helps get my attention. This one allows the font to go HUGE. Secondly, task list groups is how I work with administration, teaching and personal lists. The app is very responsive, syncs very well with Dropbox, and updates almost immediately to my iPhone or iPad version of the app. Highly recommended.
Hi! If someone is hesitated in purchasing this app, Let me give a time to tell my experience. I was skeptical about buying 2DO because there are so many free or cheap app all around. $24.99(though for 50%) seemed expensive for my NOW budget. BUT I just take risk to adventure to try it!!! Just Quick Look for 2 hours! My conclusion is GOOD CHOICE!!! It is GREAT!!! Awesome!!! My choice is wonderful! 1. My Yahoo acount syncing is fast with my iPad air2 app(I also buy $7.99) and wonderfully seamless connected! 2. I love today widget in right side of my mac screen! 2DO is right things done. 3. so many detail function that I will love to connect with other method or app. My chice is great and only practice is making that worthwhile and valuable!!! Thanks developer for discount. If $49.99, I wouldn’t buy! But 2DO is enough to buy for more than $49.99. Now It is my conclusion "Be brave for $24.99 to take it! ONLY Brave Heart can be productive.” Thank you for reading! And Have A NICE 2016! HaHaHa p.s. I buy and use HazeOver app. Good for matching 2DO!
I’ve tried all of 2Do’s major competitors and 2Do has proven to be the best app for my needs. It provides the best balance between flexibility and ease of use compared to everything else out there — the app can be as simple or as complex as you need it to be, without ever getting in the way.
Amazing app. Great interface, little details all over the place, and the iPad app might be even more powerful than the desktop. Can’t recommend it enough.
You have read all the good things about this app and its iOS counterpart. They are good apps. Here is the problem. The developers extol 2Do’s search capabilities. (Read the documentation: they claim it is the best in the App Store!) They brag about Smart Lists and how powerful they are. But if you save a search as a Smart List on your iPhone, you will be *disappointed* to find out that the same Smart List, when synced to 2Do on your Mac, *yields entirely different search results*. For example: 2Do 3.0 on iOS supports a search like this: “type: emptyproj OR emptychck”. Coming from OmniFocus, I saved this as a Smart List on 2Do called “Stalled Projects” because it shows me (on my iPhone) only my projects and checklists that have no tasks that belong to them. That Smart List lets me see which projects I need to add tasks to. Fantastic; iOS version works like a charm. *Nonetheless*: the same Smart List, synced over to 2Do 2.1 on OS X, does not work. The OS X version apparently doesn’t support the same search terms. So my “Stalled Projects” Smart List shows me several projects—both with tasks and without—interspersed with about 50 other tasks that have nothing to do with my search. In a word: *useless*. This is just one example of how the functionality differs. Another: the iOS version lets you “pause” a tag (think: “on hold” context in OmniFocus) but the OS X version does not. Consequently, the iOS version’s “!paused” (= “not paused”) search parameter does not work on OS X. So, if you’re looking for a reliable task-management app that gives you the same lists of tasks on both your Mac and your iPhone (kind of the point, right?): look elsewhere. Frustrating.
I love the tags and the quick access to things. Its powerful, elegant and flexible. I never feel like Im fighting the app. The sync between devices with Dropbox works great. It took months to find a suitable replacement for OmniFocus, and Im so glad I found 2Do. They seem committed to improving it and that’s great too.
My favorite out of all I’ve tried.
Like a few other reviewers I switched to 2Do from Things, whose no-nonsense interface design I loved but grew frustrated with limitation. I’ve tried a few other to-do apps but never found one that can be tailored to my needs — I am a graphic designer who is constantly juggling between projects by different clients, as well as other personal projects — until I tried 2Do. Still, I was hesitant just because of my love for the simplicity of design of Things. Never mind, I quickly got accustomed to the interface design of 2Do and once I actually used the app, its UI design doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. (Its iPhone counterpart has unusual UI design, too, and until I actually used it I didn’t have appreciation for the design) Most anything I really like that 2Do allows me to organize projects by client > project > project specific tasks, and not having to adhere to strict GTD method ("area of responsibility"). This organization also applies to my personal projects, helping me to see my next task and where I am in the process. (By the way, 2Do is really flexible enough that it allows you to create “area of responsibility” if you want to) I also like the fact that there is no additional cost — no subscription, no in-app purchase like other to-do app, which I find ridiculous. And it’s amazing that this app is continuously developed by an independent developer for years…much respect. My only pet peeves with this app are lack of iCloud sync (although Dropbox sync works flawlessly…but since my Dropbox space is limited and I just kinda want to consolidate all app synching to iCloud) and its app icon design. Overall, I am so happy I finally found a to-do app that I can happily live with, and I’m so glad I switched over. Highly recommended!
I switched from OmniFocus to 2Do around a month ago now, and I am very happy I did. 2Do’s complexity is there for me as I need it, I’m not forced into it at the beginning. It’s solid and is very powerful when I need it. Its UI is modern and easy to use and learn. Great task manager, and if you can get it during the 50% off sale, it’s a steal!
I don’t usually write reviews for apps, but my experience with 2do has been so amazing for so long that I feel almost morally obligated to write this one. I began using 2do about 3 years ago and there have been constant improvements the entire time. This app has 99.99% of features that anyone could possibly imagine a todo app having, and the features it doesn’t have are generally purposeful omissions to avoid over-complication. For a while now 2do has been nearly perfect, and yet the developer continues to push out regular updates with new features and meaningful tweaks *for free*. This app and the developer are incredible, more than worth the asking price.
I have used many, as I’m sure you all have, productivity apps over the course of the years just trying to find one that is useful, but not over the top. This has everything I have been looking for in my GTD app, including many updates improving the app and customer support second to none. What you can do with this app when you set it up is how YOU want it to operate. It’s all right here in front of me, whether it’s a quick note to the inbox or a more detailed project, task, or just a checklist. Do you want flexibility, this has all of the right accessories I wanted and some I didn’t think I would use, but rely on heavily now. Take putting voice memo, pictures, contact phone numbers, email addresses (right from contacts) map of where you may be going, url links, and even google searches you can pull up anytime, right in your to do, project, or task. There’s so much more to this and you will not be disappointed with what you have purchased. It has everything I have been searching for and I am not going anywhere else, Finally! Adding the IOS versions is just as consistant and great as the OS X
IMO, 2Do has been the standard bearer in its genre since I discovered it in 2010 and installed on my iPod Touch. In the intervening years, this app has only improved and become more powerful. Think about it…how many apps, over the course of 6 years of development, have started out amazing, then regularly built upon that awesomeness so effectively, they’re significantly and markedly better than they were when they started? None that I can think of. Even the best apps often fizzle out after 2 or 3 years when the developer gets bored or stops caring enough to keep up with changes in OS X. Not this app. This is the single most important app on all my machines and devices, and it will be for you too.
This app is as complicated and cluttered a todo app as any out there, and it keeps getting worse. The interface is literally all over the screen. At rock bottom, it’s a todo app with dates, priorities, lists and tags, but the interface makes it complicated. with information and controls left, right and center. It’s probably possible to tame it, but I haven’t found a simple way to do it, and I’m a veteran GTD user. It’s very disappointing to me that the interface is so hard to streamline.Features to interface with other apps are not quite as good as well-known apps in the same market niche.
